Imagination or Knowledge?

“Logic will get you from A-Z; imagination will get you everywhere,” Einstein tells us. “Imagination rules the world,” Napoleon claims, and Thoreau whispers that “The world is but a canvas to our imagination.”

But . . .

Don’t we have posters in our classrooms claiming that “knowledge is power”?

Some say that “knowledge has a beginning but no end,” “knowledge is wealth,” and, as C.S. Lewis writes, “The right direction leads not only to peace but to knowledge.”

But . . .

Lewis also proclaims that “The love of knowledge is a kind of madness.”

So . . .

I leave the question up to you—the question a student asked me.

Simply, IMAGINATION or KNOWLEDGE?
